When you play a gig, are you getting a signed, written agreement? If the answer is “no,” you’re taking a risk that there may be honest misunderstanding about pay or other details – and in some cases, that a club owner may simply not follow through on what was agreed on.
Fair Trade Music and Local 76-493 will be holding classes every two months on how to get a fair, enforceable contract, and what should go into those agreements. The classes are open to all musicians without charge.
The first class will be Monday, April 25, from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Local, 3209 Eastlake Avenue E, just south of the University Bridge. To keep the classes small enough for discussion, we ask that you register in advance.
